Hello friends! Thank you for visiting our site. For those of you who don't know, I decided a few years ago to start this nonprofit foundation to raise awareness about Muscular Dystrophy, and to give back to society. I have had Muscular Dystrophy since birth and I have been extremely blessed throughout my life with the kindness of others. I am so thankful to have been given numerous opportunities to succeed over the course of my lifetime. I started the foundation so that others living with Muscular Dystrophy may have a chance to experience life as I have.
With a heavy heart I say goodby to my kindred friend Rebecca Cushing who passed away in 2011. If you had the chance to share time with her, you felt the warmth from her heart and saw the brightness in her soul. She was an exemplary human being full of spark, wit, strength, love, kindness and an incredible zest for life. The Earth has lost a little light, but Heaven has gained an Angel.
Additionally, I have decided to establish a specific annual scholarship to honor Rebecca which will be available to UC Davis or Sacramento State students with Muscular Dystrophy. Rebecca attended UC Davis for her undergraduate studies and obtained her master's degree at Sacramento State. She was an extremely bright person and I have decided there is no better way to honor her than to give others with Muscular Dystrophy further opportunity to gain a wonderful education.

What We Do
The John Kerr Foundation is dedicated to meeting the needs of persons with Muscular Dystrophy (MD). Our objective is to directly enhance the lives of those living with Muscular Dystrophy, through the awarding of scholarships, providing medical and other needed equipment, organizing adventure related activities, and promoting independence and self worth. In addition to this, our foundation has recently begun sponsorship of the Muscular Dystrophy Adult Support Group (MDASG) Summer Retreat. This group is made up of adults with Muscular Dystrophy who once a year, come together in the foothills of the Yosemite Valley to exchange ideas and resources, and offer one another support. Our eventual goal is to establish the John Kerr Foundation summer camp for children with Muscular Dystrophy.
